WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING - CAST CHANGE ANNOUNCED
Brink Productions' Executive Producer Kay Jamieson has announced a casting change for When the Rain Stops Falling, which is currently in rehearsal in Adelaide for its world premiere at the 2008 Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts.
Melbourne actor David Tredinnick has had to withdraw from the production for personal family reasons and has been replaced by stage, television and screen actor Neil Pigot.
"We were very sad to have to farewell David who has been a valuable asset to the production since October 2007 and we wish he and his family well.
"Director Chris Drummond and I are thrilled to have secured an actor of Neil Pigot's standing at such short notice to replace David. Neil has performed with the Melbourne Theatre Company and Belvoir St and appeared on television in the series - The Games, Stingers, Blue Heelers, The Adventures of Lano and Woodley and Neighbours. On the big screen Neil has had roles in the feature films The Dish and Head On amongst others."
When The Rain Stops Falling is an epic piece of Australian storytelling combining the talents of one of Australia's leading stage and screenwriters Andrew Bovell (Lantana, Head On) in his first work for the stage in many years, with the designs of acclaimed visual artist Hossein Valamanesh, and the music and soundscapes of composer Quentin Grant. Brink Productions' Artistic Director Chris Drummond will direct with lighting design by Niklas Pajanti and video design by Justin McGuinness of TheimaGen.
When the Rain Stops Falling cast comprises Paul Blackwell, Michaela Cantwell, Carmel Johnson, Kris McQuade, Yalin Ozucelik, Anna Lise Phillips, Neil Pigot and musician, Quentin Grant.
Brink Productions started developing the project in 2004, giving Andrew Bovell the opportunity to work in creative development with the company and Hossein Valamanesh before beginning to write. Says director Chris Drummond, "The play asks questions about where we're all going as human beings at a personal level, at a political level, at a historical, environmental, ecological level."
When the Rain Stops Falling plays 28 February - 15 March 2008 (previews from 23 February) SCOTT THEATRE, Kintore Avenue, Adelaide
