THE EXTINCTION PROJECT RECEIVES MAJOR NEW FUNDING

On Friday, 21 July it was announced by Arts SA that The Extinction Project, a new Australian work currently being developed by Brink Productions, has been awarded a Major Commissions grant. The Extinction Project is a collaboration between writer Andrew Bovell (Lantana, Head On), acclaimed visual artist Hossein Valamanesh, composer Quentin Grant and Brink Productions. This exhilarting new work takes the large ideas contained within the writings of scientist Tim Flannery (The Future Eaters) and finds their human scale, with notions of cannibalism, extinction and regeneration becoming powerful theatrical metaphors for the contemporary human condition. The production is slated for world premiere in 2008.
